Girls play a year above and still come out on top!
The girls’ first team netball players had an extra match against Leamington Ladies junior club on Saturday afternoon. I had deliberately arranged a game against a mix of their U14 and 13 girls as I wanted to really stretch our team in preparation for the IAPs in March. Leamington junior club is at the top of the Coventry and Warwickshire junior league and they have the best girls from schools in the area playing for them.
The game was very exciting from the start and our girls rose to the challenge of playing strong, very tall and talented girls. Mimi and Annie both had their eye in and the goals started to flow. Defence and attack alike were on top form and the wonderful comments from spectators expressed what a fantastic spectacle the game was to watch.
Leamington had 15 girls wanting to play and so changes were made at each quarter. This was particularly tiring for our girls as we only had 8 but we kept going. Leamington requested a fifth quarter in order for all of their girls to get on court and we obliged but the extra ten minutes did tell on us. By the end of full time we had won 24-17 and after the extra play we still managed to hold on to win by 28-26. Very well done girls.
