Reception celebrate Chinese New Year

Mrs Lanni came to talk to us about Chinese New Year.  She told us how families celebrate with a big meal and give money to the children. She showed us how to decorate paper lanterns and drew a lovely picture of an orchid. Mrs Lanni demonstrated some Chinese writing and told us how to say,’ Happy New Year, hello and thank you’ in Chinese.


We also listened to the story about the different animals and found out that this is the Year of the Dragon.  Next we made beautiful lanterns, dragons puppets, wrote Chinese words in black ink and made Chinese New Year Cards. We also helped to make a big 3D Dragon out of boxes and celebrated Chinese New Year in our Chinese role play area.
