A wash out at Rugby
The under 11
girls had half a good afternoon of rounders when they attended Rugby
School's inaugural tournament for prep schools. The games started off
beautifully, with lovely sunshine and eight teams all in good spirits.
We got off to a great start, beating Bablake easily. The tournament had
been designed differently and instead of getting points for a win, loss
or draw, the teams with the most amount of rounders went through. In
the second game we didn't get as many rounders but we were still in
pole position to go through to the semi's. Then down came the rain!
Other teams continued to play whilst it was light and still got a good
few rounders. By the time we went into our third game it was pouring
and the conditions were quite dangerous. The game finished with only a
minimum of rounders scored by both teams due to slipping and sliding
around the pitches. It was decided that we would have to abandon the
tournament on the grounds of safety. The girls went on to have a
wonderful tea with the most amazing cake, so they were all quite happy.
Hopefully things will be different next year!
