Colts B produce stunning performance

I sit here almost exhausted after refereeing a truly entertaining game of Rugby football between 2 of the most committed sides I have seen.  ‘Pointless’ describes the state of the score at half-time but in no way reflects the degree of entertainment and endeavour on display.  Tackle after tackle was made, with the Bilton backs - Green-Armytage, Porter and Jeffery - allowing our visitors little or no room to manoeuvre.  The forwards scrummaged magnificently and all the players rucked effectively.

Shortly after half-time, a superb piece of support play from several players ensured that after 4 or 5 phases Kit Eastwood was able to go over in the corner.  Sam G-A converted.  Ben Taylor entered the fray, allowing Brett Graham to drop back to the second row.and not one scrum was lost in the second half.  Saksun Young again kicked and ran intelligently, Jack Murphy was outstanding on the wing and Jack Eastwood did his bit on the opposite flank.  The captain, Oliver Trotter, nearly broke through from a penalty move, Andrew Carr proving effective as a decoy.  Athough Winchester House did threaten - the ball was once held up over the line - they never quite managed a clear run to the line but they certainly played their part in producing a game to remember.
