45 minutes practice enough for 2nd XI

Yesterday, the 2nd XI travelled to Oundle after only having played 45 minutes of hockey since March. However, they were in high spirits and looking forward to the match. The effort that the girls put in was commendable and they worked very hard. It was a tight match with the defence very solid and putting in some excellent tackles as they repelled the Oundle attacks. The midfield and attackers displayed tenacity and worked hard to help out the defence and look to put pressure on the Oundle defence. The deadlock was broken with a flowing move down the left flank as the ball was moved from Annabelle Phillips to Poppy Hudson and then onto Polly Holmes. Polly cut through the defence and with an accurate pass set up Jemima with a tap in at the far post. The girls held out for the remainder of the match to secure an excellent victory.
