Spratton run rampant

Spratton Hall sent their Colts to visit Bilton Grange on Wednesday and their organised backs ran rampant through a game but flawed Bilton defence. Bilton managed to score what amounted to a consolation try as Spratton ran in 5 in the first half. It was a case of discipline overcoming enthusiasm as the Bilton backs tackled manfully but found themselves overlapped far too often.

Spratton took a while to get started but eventually ran in a good try through their backline; it was the pattern of things to come as Bilton players failed to organise their resistance. Too often Bilton had players not getting back into position, not nominating players to defend or coming in off their man and leaving gaps. Spratton has speedy runners at fly-half and inside centre and exploited the holes to good effect.

Spratton is a fixture the boys set as a benchmark of where we would like to be. The margin of 61-7 indicates that there is some way to go.
