Colts B and U10 Rugby
The Under 10’s embarked on a series of 3 matches within 7 days, drawing 1 and losing 2 but learning much in the process.
A hard-fought contest at Gt Houghton ended in a draw, Gt Houghton coming back from behind after David Bewicke-Copley had put us into the lead. Warwick then visited and managed to crawl their way back into a match that at half-time we led by 2 tries from Bewicke-Copley and scrum-half, Andrew Carr respectively.
Wellingborough then proved to be worthy of their win although our generosity of allowing them a 3-try head start left us with an up-hill struggle. Carr and Saksun Young scored the tries.
The Colts B, which included the Under 10 squad, recorded a narrow win against a visiting Abberley Hall side. A point-less but competitive first half served as an appetiser for the main course in the second half. Both sides gave their all and it was Abberley who drew first blood but then missed the conversion. BG were not to be disheartened and levelled the score as Josh Harrison went over in the corner. Sam Green-Armytage converted to record the 2 points that finally separated the two sides.
Much progress has been made over the first 4 weeks of term as the rucking has improved and the backs have looked threatening with the ball in their hands. The forwards, boosted by the incredible strength of the propping Taylor twins, have hardly lost a scrum and the half-backs, Carr and Green-Armytage, have struck up a good understanding.
On Wednesday the Colts B entertain a visiting Milton Keynes side.
