Harvest 2007
Harvest 2007
Sunday 7th October was our Harvest Festival service, led by the Junior (year 4) pupils on the theme of ‘the Wonder of Creation’, linking very closely to the ‘Creation of the World’ topic that the children are studying in RE lessons.
JDRN dramatised ‘The Making’ by Pat Alexander, JJB told of the creation of Narnia in ‘The Song of Aslan’, a passage from C.S.Lewis’ ‘The Magician’s Nephew’, and JDV enacted the Parable of the Sower.
The anthem, sung by all the Juniors, was ‘Badgers and Hedgehogs’ by Andrew Carter from his ‘Benedicite’, a celebration of all created things.
Our preacher, Dr Sarah Welch of Malvern College, took as her theme ‘growing’, exploring the connection between our physical and intellectual growth.
A collection was taken in aid of ‘Send a Cow’, a charity which aims to provide people in developing countries with food and livestock as well as skills and training.
Many thanks and well done to all the Junior children for their contributions to the service and to all who have contributed harvest gifts.
