Winchester eludes us once again!
The under 13 “A”s went off to the tournament in high spirits and full of confidence after the fantastic wins they have had so far this season. They started off in great form, all fired up and winning by a resounding 9 goals in the first match. The games were only 5 minutes each way with straight change rounds so there was not much time to score goals. Their second game went the same way and we were flying. We went through to the semi finals as runners up in our section as Wellingborough were top, beating us by 1 goal. Then we had to play the winners of the other section.
To our dismay it was Winchester, again! The girls heads went down and the panic showed in their faces. We encouraged them that we were by far the stronger side but mind over matter seemed to prevail. A very exciting match took place and the game was going goal for goal. With a few very suspect decisions by the umpire our shooters were under a massive amount of pressure. Where normally the 2 never miss, they lost 3 goals in the final closing minute and Winchester managed to get a final goal just before the whistle. This left us losing 6-7, with a team of crest fallen girls. We know that we were the better team and we can not wait until the 10th of November when we will get our revenge! We know we can do it girls, we can beat the overall winners, Wellingborough this coming Wednesday too!!
