Wellingborough Break Our Stride!
The four senior netball teams met up with Wellingborough on Wednesday afternoon. Nerves were plenty as the under 13 “A” had lost by 1 goal to them last Saturday at the Winchester tournament. This was very apparent in the first quarter as the girls really struggled to get into thier own flow. This was also hindered by only having six players for seven out of ten minutes. The under 12 “A”s were also finding it difficult to get started and it needed some strong words at half time from both coaches to get the girls fired up and ready to start displaying the play that they are capable of. The B teams both had very tough games but were managing to score some good goals in thier first halves. The A teams really pulled the stops out and two tremendously exciting games were had. It was going goal for goal in the under 12’s and the under 13’s pulled right back from seven goals behind to only two. There were some very competetive moments in the games but our girls contained themselves and displayed true sportsmanship even though they lost their unbeaten streak. The under 12’s managed a fantastic win but unfortunately both B teams lost. We must not be too disheartened; we had a very high level of games going on and the girls must realise that they are demonstrating skills worthy of much older age groups. The girls accepted defeat graciously, proving what wonderful sportswomen they are. Well done girls!
