Sunday Chapel 16th September
The first Sunday Chapel of the Michaelmas term was attended and led by the fourth form pupils, taking the theme of the ‘Angels of God’, reflecting on the feast of St Michael and all Angels, from which the term is named. Based on the John Hutton west screen at Coventry Cathedral, and other images of Angels in our ‘Mother Church’, the children dramatised scenes from the Annunciation to Mary, the agony in the Garden of Gethsemane, the tomb of Christ on Easter morning, and the depiction of War in Heaven related in the book of Revelation. The Chapel Choir sang the anthems ‘Ave Maria’ by Simon Lindley and ‘Litany to the Holy Spirit’ by Peter Hurford, with solos by Katy Tunstall, Brooke Millhouse and Lydia Kember. Brooke was also admitted as Head Chorister by the headmaster. We were pleased to welcome Mrs Sarah Gomm, head of the Middle School at Oakham School, Rutland as our preacher.
