2nd XV Rugby 19/09/2007
Vs St Hughs A Won 38-0 - A very encouraging start to the season.
A long journey, the first match of the season against a team who has already played a game, a new team, boys playing in new positions; the first match is always a bit nerve racking as you don’t really know what is going to happen. There was no need to worry from the start there were strong and aggressive runs from Tom Winterton, Charlie Smith and Oliver Robinson and the St Hugh’s line was quickly under threat and Tom scored the first try with a barging run. Thereafter there was a frustrating time where we nearly scored several tries but were either held up or dropped the ball. Charlie scored another try to ease the nerves before half time. In the second half more players made their mark and there were tries from Tom, Oliver, Salah El Husseni and Rory Molloy. Oliver Vartan kicked 4 conversions.
This was a very pleasing start and bodes well for a successful and exciting term. Next match Vs Akley Wood at home on Saturday at 2:30pm
