Colts A show potential

The Colts A XII travelled to Wellingborough to re-establish an old fixture and came away with the spoils. Line-out dominance and good defence led to the Bilton boys getting a plethora of possession, which the backs then put to good use. The final score was 68-0.

Bilton took five minutes to get onto the scoreboard, but thereafter it ticked over quickly. The backs showed good team play by getting the ball out to the wings, allowing Charlie Bastable to score 4 tries to add to last week’s hatrick. This is delightful rugby for supporters to watch. Occasionally, some other players broke with the ball, which proved slightly less fruitful, but the team still managed to score another 6 tries, including two long runs by front row forwards and a close range run-in from second row Tom Jacques.

It was the unselfish phases that were the best to watch, and the most reliable points, and Bilton must make sure that they do their job rather than hunt for try scoring glory. If Bilton can keep their discipline, the season will go well.
