The 5th Form en France

On Monday, the Fifth Form arrived safely home after a four-day action-packed residential visit to France.

Mr Hodge’s photos testify to the diverse nature of the trip and the great fun had by all.

On the way to the chateau, we stopped off for lunch at St Joseph Village, a model village representing la belle époque in France. We then headed for Le Touquet where we saw a magnificent display of sand sculptures based on an African Safari scheme. A little further down the coast, we went for a walk on the magnificent Berck Plage and saw some of the huge kites, which flew during the Kite-flying World Championships.

Other exciting excursions during the trip included a tour of Rue and its typical market on Saturday morning when the children bought several items, including a postcard and stamp to send back home, and ordered a drink – all en français of course; a trip to les Grottes de Naours (an underground ‘city’ of tunnels and chambers); a day at Parc Astérix and a morning at Cité Europe.

I am delighted to report that the children were superbly behaved throughout the tour and would like to thank Madame Williams, Mr Hodge and Mrs Gunn for their fantastic support.
