Carol Service 2008
Bilton Grange Michaelmas Term 2008 has ended in a very traditional way, with the Festival of Lessons and Carols at St Andrew’s Church Rugby. Led by the Chapel and Motet Choirs, and with readings from children, staff and parents, the service followed the traditional format established at Truro Cathedral in the 1880s and popularised by broadcasts from King’s College Chapel in Cambridge.
Music this year included Tomorrow shall be my dancing day, Ding Dong! Merrily on High, Gaudete, and Balulalow, as well as traditional hymns such as O little town of Bethlehem and Hark! The herald angels sing.
We are most grateful to Rev’d Mark Beach, Team Rector of Rugby, and the churchwardens for permission to hold the service in St Andrews, and to Nicholas Burt in his role as organist.
Musical items from the service can be heard on the Bilton Grange Podcast feed.
