Colts C & D up against it!
The Colts C and D sides travelled to Milton Keynes to take on MK Prep in less than ideal circumstances. Playing against an A and B side, with limted preparation (neither side had yet practised as a unit), the boys were always going to find it a tough fixture. The C team lost 1-3 and the D team secured a 2-2 draw. Several boys played well and raised questions about selection.
The C side were up against MK A team. Milton Keynes had two good players up front and, despite Bilton piling on the pressure in the first half, it was these two who scored breakaway goals. The lack of practice at short corner time showed, and Bilton also looked unsure about getting open for passes, although Sam Green-Armytage and captain James Tunstall did a lot of running. Bilton scored in comic circumstances, with the MK goalkeeper’s helmet entangled in the net.
The D team showed great team skills and excellent passing between the young forwards. Tom Brindley and Saksun Young were very generous, and Tom was rewarded with a score. David Bewicke-Copley and Will Jeffrey also linked in well and David bagged the other goal. The team nearly held on for the win, and MK only got the equaliser near the death.
Both teams will be able to identify weak areas and know what to work on.
