Budding BG Actors Take Centre Stage At Festival

Bilton Grange pupils Constance Krarup and Kaamil Walilay took centre stage at the Nuneaton Arts Festival when they won first prize for their debut acting performance as a duo.

The talented teenagers, both aged 13, took on budding actors up to three years older than themselves to win the duologue acting class with an extract from “The Eight Cousins” by Louisa May Alcott.

It is the first time that Constance has taken part in a speech and drama festival and, as well as winning a silver cup with fellow pupil Kaamil, she was also placed fourth in two other classes. Kaamil also impressed judges with his rendition of a humorous verse and was runner up in this category.

Most young people taking part in festivals at this age have been doing it for years so their success is very impressive as it was Constance’s first ever performance and Kaamil hasn’t been involved for a long time,” says Speech & Drama tutor Tricia Ovens.
