Lions winning run continues on the road
On 31st May, the BG Lions travelled to Abberley Hall for their first away match of the season. To accommodate our hosts, it was agreed that we would score 2 runs for a wide, 2 for a no bowl, no balls would be retaken and -5 runs but not out for this 20 over match.
Once again we lost the toss and Abberley decided to bat which has suited us very well so far this season. Abberley reached 46 runs, after deductions, from their 20 overs. Our bowling was generally very accurate and we took 12 wickets: Homer taking 4, Clarke 3, Edwards a couple and a single wicket for each of Shaybani and Owen. In addition there were a couple of fine run outs from Lockyer our wicket keeper.
After tea, we came in to bat and poor defence saw us lose 2 wickets in the first three overs. However, we soon regained our composure and during the 10th over we were matching Abberley’s final tally. We kept the runs ticking over nicely and finished with a net total of 85 runs from our 20 overs.
Today, we defended fairly well and produced significantly less errors than the opposition and this contributed to a very comfortable win.
We look forward to the arrival of Bedford on Saturday coming.
The team: J Clarke, J Pires, G Homer, C Edwards, M Warriner, C Lockyer, M Guerra, G Owen, S Shaybani, R Davies, and H Thomas.
