Rounders Tournament at Rugby School
On a dry warm Wednesday afternoon, our U11 and U10 Girls Rounders Teams set of with a mixture of excitement and trepidation for the Annual Rugby School Rounders Tournament. The competition was going to be tough as we had already fought fierce battles with most of the opponents during our regular fixtures season. Fortunately both our teams were to play the round robin matches in different groups but with both groups enjoying good results the inevitable happened – we met in the semi finals. The only consolation being at least we were guaranteed one team in the final. The U11s eventually emerged victorious but only after a well contested and closely fought match. Our opponents in the final were the mighty Dragon, who fielded a particularly impressive team. Amidst great excitement we eventually lost out by 2 rounders, the score finishing 10.5-8. Miss Green and I were both very proud of the girls for the way they represented the school and the impressive way in which they played. There were some outstanding individual performances on both teams which resulted in Emma Nobes being awarded one of two ‘Player of the Tournament’ awards. A great afternoon was had by all, the girls learnt a lot and they emerged with their heads held high.
