FRIENDS OF BILTONOUR WORK IN THE COMMUNITY

Hello everyone. I would love to give you all an update on what Friends of Bilton, along with your help, has achieved in helping our local community.

Our Naked Florist social evening in November proved a huge success and with your kind generosity we raised in excess of £800! The Christmas Fayre raised a further £200 bringing our total up to a phenomenal £1000!! The Charity the committee nominated to benefit from this was ‘Rugby Young Carers’. Our inspiration for this charity came from the connection it has with ‘children’. Children as young as 6 years old bear the responsibility of caring for either sick parents or siblings as well as fulfilling their school duties. The charity, once a fortnight, gives them the opportunity to meet at a social venue and play games, have tea and make friends with children in the same situation. Basically they have the chance for 2 hours to have some fun and be kids!

The money was presented to them in person by some children from the Junior Section and Year 4 and they found the whole event very interesting and quite humbling – they realised just how lucky they are and how important it is to help others not so fortunate.

The money raised will be used towards funding a day out for all the children – approximately 27 – whether it is a cinema trip, theme park or towards a weekend residential. They have very limited funding from the government which means costs as basic as transport to and from events are generally not always covered.

Friends of Bilton will continue to raise, where possible, more funds for the children whether it be from our social evenings or coffee mornings etc. Every little helps and the volunteers and the Children from Rugby Young Carers coupled with the Friends of Bilton Committee thank you deeply for your continued support and generosity.
