Girls 2nd XI finish with strong performance

The Girls 2nd XI
The girls 2nd XI concluded their season away at Tudor Hall on Saturday. After supporting the 1st XI in the pouring rain they took to the pitch in optimistic mood following their win the previous day. However, Tudor Hall broke through the defence early on and took the lead.
Despite this early setback, it was pleasing to see that their heads did not drop and their positive reaction. From this point forward, the girls looked to dominate the game and took every opportunity to attack. Polly Holmes and Poppy Hudson were full of running on the wings and the attacking trio of Moira Johnson, Annabelle Phillips and Oceane Steward looked to push forward regularly. Unfortunately, the equaliser could not be forced. The defence (Olivia Flowers, Sasha Cundick, Jessica Bott and Frankie Potter) had a solid game, repelling any attacks and supporting the midfield, and were well protected by Jess Mason, in her defensive midfield role. This gave goalkeepers Steffi Gonzalez and Daisy Bendel (playing half a match each) a quiet game in goal.
It was a pleasing performance by the team which highlighted the progress that they have made this term and the team spirit that they have developed.
Well done to all that have played for the 2nd XI this term and best wishes if you are moving on at the end of the year and I am looking forward to coaching those who will be in the 6th form next year.
