Colts B courageous
Following defeat in mid-week, the Colts B found themselves with a tough challenge at Warwick whose pool of players dwarfs our own. Despite going behind early on, we fought back with attacks of our own and it was clear that several players had gained in confidence over the last few weeks. Tom Sparrow, Tom Harwood and Michael Johnson were all found to be tackling and Harry Smith was again prolific going forwards. Anthony Howard, making his debut at hooker, played incredibly well for one of his stature, often appearing from mauls with the ball.
In the backs, Jacob Hardy-King, Oliver Rogerson, Harry Cash and Milo Lakin all ran well but perhaps improved timing of the pass might have seen us break the Warwick line more often. Will Sturrock and James Eggleston contributed when they could and Jack Harwood again tackled consistently well. Thomas Jenkins made an impressive start to the second half, catching a high ball and running it strongly back at the Warwick forwards. To the delight of our parents and the boys, after a period of sustained pressure, we finally breached the Warwick line and converted the try. The final scoreline of 40 points to 7 flattered our hosts but defensive practice will be high on our list this coming week. Well played, Colts B.
