A Good Afternoon at Daventry

After what seemed an eternity for the girls due to the snow, they managed to get back out on the hockey pitch straight after the half term break with two 7 a-side matches against Stoneygate. Large squads travelled to Daventry astro so that all may have an opportunity to get in some match time ahead of Saturday’s fixtures against Winchester House.

Mr Hodge’s squad were made to work hard at times and definitely looked a little rusty in the first half despite goals from Sasha Worrall, Amelia Swaby and Annabelle Phillips. A moment of hesitation in the defence did allow Stoneygate to pull a goal back before half time. A strong start to the second half enabled the girls to guarantee victory and, despite sweeping changes (both of personnel and positional), goals continued to arrive. The final score was 7-1 with second half goals coming from Sasha, Ellie Lewis and a brace from Amelia.

Whilst this action was taking place, Mrs Bevin’s squad was in action on the other half of the astro. The girls produced a strong first half and were able to create a number of chances with Kate Broad and Rebecca Thanangadan (2) finding the back of the net. The second half brought with it a number of changes as the girls made good use of the astro. Alice Ellman-Brown completed the scoring with the final result being 4-0.

A good afternoon of hockey with Winchester House next up for the girls. Both matches are away with the 1st XI at 2.00pm followed by the 2nd XI at 3.00pm. Support welcome!
