Guru Nanak Gurdwara

It was with much excitement and anticipation that the 5th Form (Year 7) clambered in to three minibuses on May 11th 2009 to travel the short distance to the Guru Nanak Gurdwara in Rugby.  After studying the Sikh Faith in Religious Education for most of the term, pupils were eager to find out what goes on inside a Sikh place of worship and were equally keen to savour the delights of the planned Langar meal!

Many thanks must be expressed to the wonderfully helpful, Mrs. Bedi (a parent of the school) for helping to organise the fantastic visit.  Grateful appreciation is also given to the lovely ladies who worked so tirelessly in the kitchen to provide us all with a delicious meal and the tastiest cups of tea!

Mr. Sagoo, our excellent guide, gave a superb presentation to pupils about many aspects of Sikh Faith and customs, even dressing some pupils in the distinctive 5Ks (shorts, sword, comb, bracelet and turban) worn by members of the Khalsa.

Mrs. Gater was very impressed with the close attention of the pupils and the sensible questions they asked.  She was even more pleased when pupils were later complimented by members of the gurdwara community for their good manners and attentiveness.

A thoroughly enjoyable time was had by all!
