The 6th form children have all arrived back safe and sound after what was a fabulous long weekend in Jersey. We could not have asked for better weather, which enabled the children to spend many hours playing rugby, cricket, football and rounders on the excellent beach just over the road from our hotel.
We had some great rounders and cricket matches against local school teams and clubs. The first team girls were successful in both of their games and, even though the 2nds girls and boys teams didn’t win all of their fixtures, great fun was had by all and some new “Jersey” friends were made.
The children had a wonderful time at Creepy Valley where they climbed an aerial high ropes course, zoomed down the giant zip wire, screamed on the king swing and encouraged each other on the crate stacking challenge. It was wonderful to see the children encouraging each other, especially those who were really scared; some surprising heroes came out of the woodwork!
Surfing became more of a body boarding affair as we didn’t have very big waves but it was a great spectacle to see all of the youngsters having so much fun in the surf.
The trip was concluded with a BBQ on the beach on Monday evening followed by a disco in the hotel. There were many shapes being created on the dance floor along with some exhibition gymnastics complements of Mr Green! This was a fantastic way to end what was a really exceptional weekend. The children were amazing and we received many compliments on their behaviour, politeness and helpfulness from the general public. They were great ambassadors for BG and they made the whole time a very enjoyable experience for the staff with them.
