A great game at Maidwell

20th June 2014

What a fantastic evening of cricket with over 150 spectators; pupils, parents and families, the stage was set for a great battle and we didn’t disappoint the BG Barmy Army!

An over confident Maidwell Hall won the toss and elected to bat. BG mixed it with Mathew N and Angus R opening the bowling and got us off to a tight and tidy start, supported by aggressive fielding from the team.

The overs ticked by and Maidwall weren’t scoring the big runs they might have hoped for. At the end of the T20, Ben Harris took three wickets and one each for Mathew, Marcus and George. Maidwell posting 169-6 in their 20 overs.

Cometh the man, Cometh the situation and after a steady start with Mathew and Harry opening, captain Marcus Tarrant took took to the crease.

Both players ignored the chatter around the bat and focused on the ball and getting the runs. The game ticked along with boundaries flowing the runs totting up. Marcus was the first to his 50 closely followed a few balls later by Harry.

The total was still in the distance but a powerful 17th over by Marcus, hitting 5 4’s took the game away from Maidwell and into BG control and in the last over the winning runs were hit with 5 balls spare and 9 wickets in hand!

An awesome night and a game and week to remember…..What a season we are having!

Well done lads another great team effort!
