3rd March 2015
If you have been disappointed with the secondary school you have been allocated, fear not, we still have spaces in Year 7 for this coming September.
Although it may seem counter intuitive to change schools for Years 7 and 8, only to move again for Year 9, it is actually quite a common choice, and one that parents find a good solution if their first choice of school has not come through. Each September we have an intake of children from both state and other independent schools into Year 7, and they enjoy two years at BG, before moving on to Senior School for Year 9, whether that be local schools such as Princethorpe or Rugby, or to day and boarding schools further afield.
At BG, in Years 7 and 8, the children are able to continue their childhood, and will enter the big world of a big senior school, all the more prepared having had two years as big fish in the smaller BG pond. In the upper years, we give children increased responsibility, from being Prefects to team captains, and this instills a confidence that ensures they can take on the challenges of senior school when they leave after Year 8. Last year, 50% of our Year 8 leavers went on to Senior School with some kind of award or scholarship, so we really do get the most out of the children whilst they are with us.
If you would like to consider your options for Year 7 and beyond, please don’t hesitate to call the Registrar, Rebecca Bantoft on 01788 818249. We still have places for Year 7, and this Saturday is Open Morning, so families considering their next step in education would be very welcome to come round and have a look at the school.
