The Christmas edition of the Headmaster’s Challenge, which seeks to offer all Prep pupils an opportunity to show independent thinking skills and creativity, was on the theme of e-safety, participating in a county-wide initiative. A large number of excellent entries were received, but two stood out for their particularly imaginative response, both of which successfully sought to use the style of books aimed at young children to put their message across. Jonas’s colourful, shiny picture book with moving parts and rhyming couplets brilliantly put across the fact that you have to be careful when making online purchases, and was the worthy runner-up. Katie’s story, beautifully illustrated and with very few words, used the age-old technique of using animals in place of humans, with Hopper the Rabbit making friends online…with a fox! Hopper, safely returned to his warren, has duly gone forward to the Warwickshire competition as the BG winner, but well done to all the entrants.
