Uppingham’s Prep School Orchestral Day

29th February 2016

BG pupils attended Uppingham School’s annual Prep School Orchestral Day on Thursday 25 February. The day involved sectionals and ensemble rehearsals with the expert Music team at Uppingham, culminating in a concert to parents.

At the beginning of the concert, we were all treated to the excellent work of Uppingham’s Jazz Orchestra. The Prep School String Orchestra then played Scarborough Fair and William Tell, followed by the Prep School Wind Band playing Happy and Uptown Funk to great effect. The final item was a medley of songs from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, reminding BG pupils of our wonderful Juniors production a few weeks ago. It was nothing short of inspiring for our pupils to play in an ensemble of some 320 children, and the quality of the performance was very high!

Thanks to Mrs Heathcote and Mr Turner for accompanying us on the trip, and well done to all the pupils involved, who did BG very proud.
