Bilton Grange is proud to contribute about 6% of the membership of the National Youth Boys’ Choir. Edward, Isaac and Jake successfully auditioned in November and enjoyed their first residential course at Bloxham School over the Easter break. Working with great choral trainers, including Ralph Allwood and Greg Hallam, the boys honed their musicianship and assimilated a huge amount of repertoire in a very short time. The course culminated in the imagiNATIONS concert at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday 10 April, including the première of the new Seasons and Charms written by Jonathan Dove for the Friday Afternoons Project.
On returning to BG, our national representatives have started teaching the Senior Chapel Choir one of the new songs, and their experience is inspiring other choristers to audition for the National Youth Choirs.
In the words of one of our pupil’s “It was an utterly amazing experience and the atmosphere at the Royal Albert Hall was electric!”
