Leavers’ Trip To Jersey 2016

15th June 2016

The 6th form children have all arrived back safe and sound after what was a fabulous long weekend in Jersey. We had a mixed bag of weather but, in general, it was lovely in comparison to home. We had many hours playing cricket, football and rounders on the beach and lots of swimming in the sea!

This year we tried a slightly different format with us only playing one competitive rounders and cricket match. We decided to have a mixed sports afternoon combining all of the girls and boys against La Rocquier school on Friday. We played mixed rounders which was great fun and proved victorious for both of our BG teams. On Monday the girls played Jersey college for girls and the boys played Victoria college. Once again, both teams won their matches but all games were very exciting and thoroughly enjoyable.

The children had a wonderful time at Creepy Valley where they climbed an aerial high ropes course, zoomed down the giant zip wire and screamed on the king swing. It was wonderful to see the children encouraging each other, especially those who were really scared; some surprising hero’s came out of the woodwork!

Surfing was lots of fun even though the weather was particularly overcast and cold that morning. The children were more than happy once in their wet suits, they had to be forced out of the waves.

We had a disco on Sunday evening which would normally be held on our final night. As there was a darts match on in our function room we had to think of an alternative. We ended the trip with a great game of Bananas where the children have to think of Countries, boys and girls names and other categories that start with random letters. We did have some giggles over certain answers; I didn’t realise that Venice was a country!

To finish off a wonderful tour we received a lovely email from a member of the public who complimented our children on their excellent behaviour, conduct and politeness whilst on their flight home. The children were a delight to be with and proved great ambassadors to the school.
