Bilton Lecture on 22nd Sept, 7.30pm

2nd September 2016

The first Bilton Lecture of our new academic year we host Alexander Hanson and Samantha Bond to talk about ‘A life on stage’ on Thursday 22nd Sept at 7.30pm with drinks served from 7.00pm.

Rather than a lecture, this will be a Q&A event, and questions can be submitted in advance or on the evening. As usual, the event will start at 7.30pm in the Ravenscroft with drinks served in the Gallery from 7.00pm.

An Old Biltonian (1969 – 1974) Alexander is now based in London and he is a firmly established presence in the realms of Theatre, Film, Television and Radio. On stage, he has appeared in Sunset Boulevard, Aspects of Love, We Will Rock You, and played Pilate in the 2012 UK arena tour of Jesus Christ Superstar. He also played the title role in Stephen Ward the Musical, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical telling the story of the Profumo scandal. He has spent this summer performing in Florian Zeller’s ‘The Truth’. Alexander has also starred in TVs Heartbeat, Casualty, The Bill and Peak Practice. In both 2009 and 2010 he was nominated for Laurence Olivier awards.

Alex’s wife, Samantha Bond, is also a classically-trained actor who has appeared in numerous stage productions, although she is known to millions as Lady Rosamund in Downton Abbey and, before that, as Miss Moneypenny in the Bond films during the Brosnan years.
