Brownies visit Stacey Court

7th December 2016

At around 6.15 pm on Monday 5th December seventeen very excited and rather nervous Brownies climbed into two minibuses in order to go to Stacey Court, Bilton; a sheltered accommodation complex. The Brownies were off to share their Christmas Play – Christmas Candles – which they had been working on for the last five weeks in order to earn their Entertainer’s badge. As well as taking part in a form of entertainment which involved at least three elements; we had acting, singing, playing musical instruments and compèring; they had to produce a program, sort out a costume and the relevant props and then perform to an audience. On arrival we were greated by a very expectant audience, some of whom had been Brownies themselves. All the girls rose to the challenge and the audience joined in the singing of some of the carols and ‘Come and join the celebration’ at the end. The girls were awarded their badge and former Brownies and Guides in the audience were invited to do the honours. At the end of the evening everybody enjoyed a drink and a bite to eat as Stacey Court had laid on a spread for the girls. As well as perfoming the girls acted as hostesses to the residents and chatted with them. The residents remarked that the visit by the Brownies had really lifted them.
