Celebrating our Retired Teacher’s 100th Birthday

Monday 29th April

On Friday 26th April our Year 3 pupils visited Clifton Court Care Home in Clifton upon Dunsmore. The purpose of their visit was to perform a selection of songs for the residents, one resident of particular importance being Mrs Monica Summerson, a teacher at Homefield School (the precursor to Bilton Grange Pre-Prep) between 1942 and 1981. Mrs Summerson, who celebrated her 100th birthday earlier in April, was delighted with the birthday treat and enjoyed talking with the visiting teachers also.

We were very pleased that Clifton Court allowed us to perform for the ladies and gentlemen there, they seemed to really enjoy it, as did our children. It was lovely to see two different generations enjoying performance together in this way and it was important to mark this significant milestone for such a stalwart of the Bilton Grange community.

The children had practised their pieces well in advance of the visit and were delighted to perform in front of a new audience.
