Last week our children experienced a 3 day Carnival themed Creative Arts Festival. The pupils had the opportunity to experience a wide variety of activities. In our Sculpture room they carved soapstone necklaces, in Art they made lanterns and in DT they mass produced the light fittings to create a colourful lantern instillation for the hard court. Our squash courts were repurposed as a place to learn Capoeira, a Brazilian marshall art, and our Sports Hall became a Parkour playground. In Music they recreated the Samba beat while downstairs in our band room we held a Samba lesson. The bottom of the Pugin library became home to an Engineering lesson in which pupils built a geodesic dome, demonstrating that triangles do indeed make a very strong form of construction. What a fantastic morning!
