Parents may drop children off at the Prep department from 8am, with the school day starting officially from 8.25am. Following ‘fall in’ in the Gallery, either Chapel or Assembly takes place, with different form groups or members of staff leading the service.

Lessons throughout the morning (with break taking place at 10.40am) lead up to lunchtime, which is staggered to ensure that the younger years eat first, followed by the top two years at 12.50pm.  The children eat well, and have a good choice of home-made dishes, as well as fruit and salad with every meal.

Following lunch and a long lunch break, there are more lessons, activities, and four times a week, Games.  Prep (homework), supervised by staff, takes place at the end of the afternoon or can be taken home to complete. An Example Timetable is available here.

Saturday School

Saturdays start with bacon butties for Parents, and Chapel for pupils.  The older children, in Fifth (Year 7) and Sixth (Year 8) Forms follow a full timetable of lessons on a Saturday morning and the Fourth Form (Year 5) have a mixture of timetabled lessons and curriculum enrichment. In September 2017 we introduced The BiG Saturday for our Juniors (Year 4) and, from 2018 for our 3rd Form (Year 5). The BiG Saturday is an optional Saturday morning of curriculum enrichment which includes sporting and outdoor activity, the creative and performing arts, and also classroom-based curriculum enrichment. This means that for those parents concerned about a long week, or the quantity of time spent together as a family, there is now a further element of choice in our timetable. and of course all core curriculum subjects will be taught Monday to Friday.

Team sports and fixtures take place on a Saturday afternoon, however if a child in Juniors – Fourth Form is not required for a team practice or fixture, they are able to leave school at 12.30pm.

On average, with the timing of exeats (leave-out weekends), Saturday school takes place on two Saturdays out of three during term time. To ease their transition to the Prep department, Juniors will have additional exeats when they are not required to be in school on a Saturday.
