The Rugby Choristers at Bilton Grange

Youngsters are invited to combine their passion and talent for singing with an outstanding education at Bilton Grange as part of an exciting new chorister programme, Rugby Choristers at Bilton Grange.

This programme means that boys and girls from all backgrounds can access exceptional musical training alongside a world-class education and, unlike cathedral chorister programmes, does not involve weekends.

Bilton Grange is already a pre-eminent prep school for music and this new programme will give children the opportunity to become part of separate chorister teams of four boys and four girls from each year group (Years 3 – 8).

Alongside Bilton Grange’s full academic and co-curricular provision, the choristers will benefit from high level training, including instrumental studies, music theory, aural and vocal coaching. Their schedule will comprise a daily morning rehearsal plus a service – Evensong or Eucharist – in either Bilton Grange’s or Rugby School’s Chapels on four afternoons a week. In time, a schedule of extra commitments, including concerts, tours, recordings and broadcasts, will be an essential component.

Rugby School, which a large number of Bilton Grange pupils join for their senior schooling, has an extensive music provision and a strong choral programme, with Chapel services at its heart.

Choristerships will be open to both day pupils and boarders (full boarding, flexi-boarding, weekly boarding) from Year 3. Boys and girls will receive Music Scholarships in line with those at Rugby School which can be augmented by bursary support up to 100 per cent of the boarding or day fees, subject to means assessment.

A series of dedicated open days will be arranged at Bilton Grange to enable children to experience being a chorister for a day.
