When can my child join The Nest?
Your child can join The Nest from the term after they turn three. Some children will spend a full year in The Nest, whilst others will do more than a year depending on their birthday.
Where is The Nest?
The Nest is set within the Pre-Prep School building and has its own free flow outdoor area. Children of The Nest are able to access the main playground areas and do a large amount of their learning outdoors in our Wild Gardens.
When does The Nest run?
The Nest is term time only and normal school hours. Wrap around is available in the form of The Breakfast Club (7.30am-8am), Early Birds (8am – 8.15am) and The Den (3.30pm – 6pm). Supervision until 4pm is free of charge, as is Early Birds.
Do children wear uniform?
Yes, there is an Early Years uniform for children in Reception and The Nest. The uniform will include a polo shirt and jumper, rather than a shirt, tie and blazer.
What does the structure of the day look like?
Morning sessions start at 8.15am and end at 12.30pm and include a mid-morning snack, lunch and a specialist taught activity. Each day will include an element of enhanced provision such as Outdoor Learning, French, Music, Dance or PE. Afternoon sessions start at 12.30pm and finish at 3.30pm. We are as flexible as possible in meeting the needs of families, so please do come and talk to us. We ask that children do a minimum of three sessions per week.
What is on the lunch menu and where will they eat?
Reception and The Nest will eat lunch together in the new dining area adjacent to the Pre-Prep Hall. Lunch is catered ‘in-house’ by our catering team and we can meet most dietary requirements. Our chefs take great care to ensure that your child’s dietary and nutritional needs are met and to ensure that no child ever goes hungry.
Where do the children play during break times?
As well as having access to their own enclosed, free-flow outdoor space, children in the Nest will, when they are ready, be introduced to the larger playground to play with and alongside the older children. There will be areas demarcated for the use of the younger children with appropriately sized play equipment.
Can I use childcare vouchers and claim Nursery Funding?
Yes, all children at the Nest will be eligible to claim up to 15 hours of funded childcare and a limited number of ‘funded hours only’ places are available. We also accept tax-free childcare vouchers. More information on fees and vouchers can be found on the fees guide and from the Bursary. Please do contact our Registrar by telephone or email for further information.
Does my child need to be toilet trained to join The Nest?
Yes. Accidents do of course happen with children of this age and adult support is always available should it be required but to join, your child should be usually clean and dry and we would ask that you help us in encouraging your child towards using the toilet independently.
